1. What are cookies and similar technologies?
Cookies are small text files placed on your device when you visit a website. We also use similar technologies such as local storage, session storage, pixels, and software development kits (SDKs) in apps, which can store or read identifiers on your device for similar purposes.
First-party cookies are set by Events4U; third-party cookies are set by partners we use (for example, analytics or payment providers).
2. Why we use them
We use cookies and similar technologies to:
- Operate the Services — keep you signed in, maintain security (for example, CSRF protection), remember preferences such as language, and route traffic efficiently.
- Measure and improve — understand how the Services are used, diagnose errors, and improve performance and user experience.
- Protect users — detect fraud, abuse, and automated attacks.
- Marketing (where enabled) — deliver or measure advertising, including on partner sites, where you have consented or where permitted by law.
3. Categories of cookies
We group cookies into the categories below. Exact cookie names may change as we update our stack; we will keep this policy materially accurate.
Strictly necessary. Required for core functionality such as authentication, session management, load balancing, and security. These cannot typically be disabled without breaking the Services. Examples: session ID, auth token storage (often httpOnly cookies), consent state where legally required to remember your choice.
Functional. Remember settings you choose (region, accessibility options, cart state where not strictly necessary).
Analytics. Help us understand aggregate usage (pages viewed, funnels, performance). We aim to configure analytics to minimise personal data and, where required, to activate only after consent.
Marketing. Used to measure ad campaigns or to enable remarketing. We use these only where allowed by law (for example, after consent in the EEA/UK).
4. Typical cookies and storage you may see
The following table illustrates common technologies we or our subprocessors may use. Names are representative and may differ in production.
| Name / pattern | Type | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|---|
| __Host-*, __Secure-* | Necessary | Secure session / authentication (framework or host prefixes). | Session |
| consent_preferences | Necessary | Stores your cookie choices where a banner is implemented. | 12 months |
| locale, theme | Functional | UI preferences via local storage. | Persistent |
| _ga, _ga_* | Analytics | Google Analytics-style identifiers if enabled. | Up to 24 months |
Payment providers and embedded content may set additional cookies governed by their own policies.
5. Your choices
Browser controls. Most browsers let you refuse or delete cookies. Follow instructions from your browser vendor; note that blocking strictly necessary cookies may prevent sign-in or checkout.
Industry opt-outs (advertising). Where applicable, you can use tools such as the Your Online Choices (EU), Digital Advertising Alliance (US), or platform-specific ad settings.
Do Not Track. There is no uniform standard for "Do Not Track" signals; we treat them alongside other controls where technically feasible and where law requires.
6. Third parties
Partners that may set cookies when you use the Services include hosting and infrastructure providers, analytics vendors, authentication providers, payment processors, and security/fraud vendors. Their use is described in our Privacy Policy and their own disclosures.
7. Updates
We may update this Cookie Policy when we change our practices or technologies. We will revise the effective date and, where required, refresh consent or notice.
